HALLOWEEN

HAPPY HALLOWEEN! :)

Probably the most well known symbol of Halloween is the carved pumpkin, or jack-o-lantern.

There are a few colors that are strongly associated with Halloween. Orange and black being the two main colors of the holiday. Although these colors have been mass-marketed in recent years, they are thought to go all the way back to the celtic celebrations and be reminders of the candles and fires that were lit to welcome the cold black winter ahead.

It can help you mix your favourite brew to just-how-you-like-it by matching the colour guide on the inside.

Let's associate color with taste!!

TASTY COLORS :9

MOOD AND COLORS

Colors are closely related to mood.
Red = rage, anger, annoyance
Orange = vigilance, anticipation, interest
Yellow = joy, ecstasy, serenity
Light green = trust, admiration, acceptance
Green = terror, fear, apprehension
Light blue = amazement, surprise, distraction
Blue = grief, sadness
Purple = loathing, disgust, boredom
Actually, colors do not convey any particular meanings themselves. How people interpret colors depends very much on their perceptions, experience, personal feeling on different color.
For example,
In fashion dictionary,
blue = modern, cool, stylish
In terms of mood,
blue = sadness, depressed, gloomy
In fashion dictionary,
purple = elegant, romantic, royal
In terms of mood,
purple = disgust, loathing
In fashion dictionary,
green = relaxing, soft, close to nature
In terms of mood,
green = terror, fear, apprehension
From all the above, we can conclude that meaning of colors vary a lot and is very subjective.

EARTH TONE

I LOVE EARTH TONE :)

Beige, Orange-brown, Dust blue, Grey are my favourite colors.
It is all about subtle, natural, harmonious and neutral elements.
In my opinions, these colors are close to nature, make me feel very relaxed and comfortable, going back to originality.

That's also the reason why i like Initial garments.
Other brands, like Muji and A.P.C., are also my favourites.

PINK FOR MEN

Came across a very good article on pink fashion for men. I just can't resist to reproduce this blog to share with you.

Originally, to me, pink is for women, men who wear pink will be usually considered as gay in my concept.

However, there is actually something very much alluring about the pinks. This could be because, psychologically pink color is known for having a calmer effect. This could be also because pink compliments almost all skin tones, unless you have more of pink tone in your skin. A man wearing something is pink exudes complete confidence, although still sensitive. It could also be a simple fact that pink is quite easy to coordinate with most of the colors present in your wardrobe.

Pinks go well with tans, navys, greys, and some other hues of blue. If you are not yet convinced with how great pink looks, women too love pink and are likely to take a second glace of yours. If you haven’t got ant pinks as yet then you might consider trying one. You can incorporate this, pink, magical color to your wardrobe in various styles.

Pink color is associated with tranquility and romance.

There is a recent trend found, men wearing shirts in pink. Men wearing pinks scream of being confident and bold. If you are all set to commit to pink dress shirt, pink sweaters, suits, t-shirts and ties would be a way to subtly infuse pink color to the wardrobe. Pink is sure to add glam to your appearance.

BOYS AND GIRLS

PINK FOR GIRLS

BLUE FOR BOYS

It is very obvious for parents to buy pink clothes and dolls for baby girl, blue clothes and toys for baby boy due to the gender orientation. However, nowadays, it may not be the case.

"My almost 4 year old son's favorite color is pink. He has his favorite pink towel for bath time, a pink t-shirt he loves to run around the house in, and is always picking out pink things. I don't think it's a big deal. Pink is a pretty color and he's only a little boy. It's not like his color preferences have anything to do with future sexual orientation...not that I think if boys like pink they're gay or that I'd have a problem if it turned out he was, it just seems like that's the common opinion on boys liking pink. What is your opinion on boys and pink? Is it any different than girls liking the traditional boy color of blue? Should colors be considered gender specific? Any thought or opinions would be appreciated," a mother said.

I think colors are not gender specific, but society tends to label them as gender specific.

Kids don't have any concept of gender specific items or colors. They develop one over time because they are naturally steered toward what society says they should like such as cars for boys and ponies for girls. If he likes pink and it makes him happy to have pink things then let him have them. Pink is becoming more and more popular for mens fashion these days anyway.

EXPERIMENT 1 - COLOR GROUPING

Before trying to color the illustrations, I decided to practise developing different color families by making color cube lines based on different inspirations, see if different colors can come together to achieve harmony.
