COLOR OF A BRAND

Effective color usage can help to build the brand's image, especially choosing the suitable color for brand logo. A sharply and uniquely colored brand logo can definitely help promoting the brand.

Red is hot, passion, love, rebellious, powerful, sex, radical, excited, bold and devil.

Orange is warm, fall, summer, retro, mellow, solar, friendly, recoco, cottage and inviting.

Yellow is solar, happy, cheerful, summer, fun, energetic, jubilant, young, sun, friendly.

Green is environmental, natural, organic, earthy, grow, money, profit, trust and jealous.

Blue is liberal, cold, smart, progress, music, trust, freedom, royal, medicine and launch.

Purple is royal, mystical, victorian, decadent, vanity, romantic, elegant, stylish, sensual and eclectic.

Brown is rustic, furniture, fall, earthy, cottage, library, warm, romantic, colonial and book.

Multi-color is new, novel, change, modern, magical, surprise and marvel.

GOOD EXAMPLE
MICROSOFT

The colorful logo of microsoft presents the brand as a very new, innovative and modern company, which suits the fast-changing computer software market very much.

BAD EXAMPLE
YAHOO!

Purple color for Yahoo! does not matter much.
However, Yahoo! is embarking on one of the more bizarre marketing campaigns. It launched the Start Wearing Purple campaign Monday.
The goal: to highlight acts of innovation and creativity, which Yahoo considers as core attributes of its company and its favorite hue. In the words of the campaign: “Purple is now, it’s wow, it’s pow!”
The campaign is apparently intended to push consumers into associating Yahoo with innovation. This is a pretty strange brand awareness campaign, and I'm not so convinced that the color purple is the magic ticket to bringing Yahoo into the year 2008.
