Recently, i am doing a project on tartan, and i decided to try analysing the color use on tartan here.

After analysing the color use of these tartan, i found that dark green, dark red, black, white, dark blue usually appear on tartan. As tartan was once only for nobles, in order to have a luxurious and elegant feeling, most colors used are darker colors.

Though many very different or complimentary colors are employed in a pattern, they can unexpectedly reach harmony.
